Jennifer Wilson Rezende

I was born and raised in Texas – attending college there before moving to the UK with my first husband in 1996. I lived in London from then until 2014, when my second husband, Mauricio and I decided to make the transition back across the pond. Mauricio was born and raised in Brazil, and studied architecture in London – which is where we met. When we discussed the move to the US, we didn’t have any real destination in mind, and when an ex colleague identified me as a potential candidate for a new position located in the Davidson, NC HQ, I jumped at the chance. I hadn’t been to the Charlotte area before – but had heard good things about it and was excited about the adventure.

We knew right away that we didn’t want to settle in Davidson – it felt too disconnected and lacked diversity – something we’d learned to value greatly through our travels and time spent abroad. When we first arrived, we lived in an apartment on 7 th Street – Elizabeth. We knew that we wanted to buy our home ASAP, and appreciated the proximity to restaurants and other amenities. During that first year we researched and visited a lot of areas in the city – and eventually found our home in Seversville. It was the perfect mix of architectural charm, convenient location, and as we soon found out – wonderful neighbors &  a real sense of community.

I’ve lived in many places in my 5 decades and have to admit that I’ve never felt the need to put down roots, nor have I really gotten to know my neighbors to the degree that I would call them wonderful friends. I’ve found that in Seversville. My aim here is to foster that sense of community for as many as possible. The fact that our neighborhood embraces everyone –

regardless of age, color or sexual preference, makes it a true gem in these times of division.

I believe Community is critical to our overall well being, that our health and happiness are inextricably linked with our connections, and my commitment as Seversville Board President is to foster those connections.
